Weekend Randoms

Not having to work this weekend was quite a surprise (typically in the end of June and most of July we work seven days per week), so we were going to make the most of it. I decided that I needed to run out to work just for a few minutes on Saturday morning just to tie up some loose ends so I would be ready for Monday. Blaine said "Oh there is no need for me to go Charlot and I will just stay home and hang out." Well this what I came home too.
Mommy then promptly took over and wanted to play time. I made the hubs take some pictures of my girl and I because I don't have very many of the two of us. I don't want to to grow up and never see any pictures with Mommy, she might think I didn't love her.

On Sunday morning Charlot and I followed the hubs while he moved some equipment before church. He then decided that he needed to check our bean field. Apparently Gabby thought he needed help.

Sunday evening we celebrated my Great Aunt Sherron's birthday she is visiting from Florida! This was her first visit since Charlot was born. Look at that Yummy cake, it is my Great Grandma "Granny" recipe.

While we were out there my dad decided to introduce Charlot to my mom's magnet clip that looks and oinks like a pig. She was pretty impressed.
I hope everyone has a great week!

For the love of a job...

I just want this to be said first and foremost I truly love my job, I work for a great company and the people I get to work with are really amazing. I will admit that I struggled after Charlot was born about coming back to work, but I couldn’t stay away I loved the work too much.  But today is my least favorite day of the year, this morning as I was dropping Charlot off at the sitters I nearly ran back to my car with her and called in sick. Today is the day that our mass of 150 high school age workers converges on us. Oh my! Yes I do have a degree in Agriculture Education, at one time in my life I thought I wanted to teach high schoolers, sometimes I still do but that is another story. So I of all people should be ok with this I am combining my love of kids and agriculture in one job without the school setting. But here is the thing for most of these kids this is their first job outside of the home. And when they get here many of them suddenly see me as their momma. I swear this morning 7 count them 7 children were asking me the same question at the same time, approximately thirty seconds after I had just answered it. In addition to questions, the noise that 150 kids can make is deafening. It is like herding turtles around here at times. But I will say that after the first day I truly enjoy the kids and I am so thankful they are here because we couldn’t do the work without them!

Look at all of them preparing to pounce on me with questions.
Have a great weekend, I know I will preparing for all of them to return on Monday!

5 Months

This week we had a new addition to the farm, two new litters of pigs. I am so excited for these little cuties.  Charlot also turned 5 months old on Sunday. I felt like this was the perfect opportunity to take some pictures and introduce Charlot and the baby pigs. At five months old Charlot is an amazingly happy baby. She is so laid back; I thank God every day for such an amazing little lady. As you can see in some of these pictures she isn’t so sure about the pigs gathered around her. I thought she would find them fun, I mean every time Gabby (our yellow lab) comes near her she just cracks up. Charlot is growing and changing each and every day some of her big accomplishments for this month are rolling over and pushing up as well as trying to sit up. Oh and she is cutting her first tooth!

It was a little windy out at first so little miss wasn't sure what to think. But then we brought on the babies and she really became concerned, she never cried, but a smile for momma wasn't gonna happen. I would also like to point out that these little guys look huge but they are only three days old and they have a total of ten in their litter, they are big ones!

After the pigs were removed Charlot seemed to rest a little easier and then discovered the dirt.

A wonderful day of celebrating fathers

I hope each and every one of you father’s out there had a great father’s day! I sure hope my dad and hubby did. Charlot and I tried to make father’s day extra special for all the father’s in our lives. We cooked breakfast (ok she played in her bouncy seat), for the Hubs, he was super excited about that. Then went to church and to Grandma Jones for lunch where Charlot got to play with her cousin Mia. We rounded out the day having Grandma and Pappy Crews over for supper. My dad is a huge fan of Cajun cooking; I even have posted his recipe for Jambalaya Here. Well considering this meal was for him I wanted to tie in his love of the spice, but of course I wanted to make it something different and including pasta was just a plus. I made Rachael Ray’s version of a Jambalaya Pasta with a few of my twists along the way. I chose to use bowtie pasta instead of a penne; Pappy isn’t a fan of the penne. The recipe said to cut chicken breast in ½ inch strips and cook in the sauce. I decided to sprinkle some blackening spices on the breasts and sear them prior to slicing and adding to the sauce. Finally I decided to add a small can of tomato sauce at the end; I only did this because I felt like the dish needed more sauce.

Baptism...

This past weekend we had Charlot’s baptism. It was a lovely day and a wonderful service, Charlot didn’t even cry when they poured the water on her head. We were so happy that so many of our family could attend here are a few pictures from it.
Charlot and Uncle Zach goofing around before pictures.
Our siblings are serving as Charlot's sponsors.

4 Months!

She is four months old! She is rolling over, taking her shoes off, laughing uncontrollably, eating her fist, smiling all the time, playing with her favorite toys cow and moose, watching TV, and amazing me each and everyday! Here are her four month picture I snapped.

Also I include the proof that I am starting my child off on the right foot in life. In her brand spanking new Pioneer shirt and daddy’s Pioneer hat a little big but she is working it.
